When does this error occur?
You may encounter this error:
- When processing a weekly or monthly payroll run
- During certain calculations or operations where affected records are accessed
In most cases, the error can be resolved by removing trailing zeros from the underlying data.
How to resolve “Run Time Error 63 – Bad Record Number”
To clear the error, follow these steps:
- Open Thesaurus.
- From the top menu, click Help.
- Select About Thesaurus.
- On your keyboard, press Ctrl + Z (hold down the Ctrl key and press Z).
- A message will appear stating: “Trailing zeros removed.”
- Click OK to close the message.
- Return to your payroll and try processing the period again.
In most cases, the payroll will now process successfully without the error.
